Today, All the World’s a Stage continues a series on “how to be evil,” bringing the bad guy back into your fantasy roleplaying, complete with ideas, methods, warnings, and practical examples. Be sure to check out steps 1-3 on the path to evil here.
It’s been said that the secret to writing a good story is not having a really interesting hero, but rather an interesting villain. The hero himself is defined by the villain in many ways, just as a sports team becomes famous only once they’ve defeated the last year’s champions, or a runner breaks the world record for speed, a hero needs someone to test himself against, a great obstacle for him to overcome or destroy. If the villain is interesting, then the hero will be interesting too.
It is natural, then, for a roleplayer to want to test his own heroes or those of his friends against some obstacles as well. Many of us sit down with the intention of creating a really interesting challenge for our guildmates to overcome – but in our creative endeavor we must remember that danger lurks behind every corner,

Some of you might have already gotten your Violet Proto-Drakes, a long, strange trip that spans one full year of playing World of Warcraft. Some persistent and conscientious players have already gotten their Brewmaster title along with the meta-Achievement, and I’m pretty sure it must feel pretty good. There’s no more pressure to do all the holiday achievements now, is there? It’s time to kick back and chillax.
For those of you who’ve completed the meta-Achievement, how do you feel? Does it feel good to ride around on that 310% mount? Are you among the first on your server to sport that dragonfruit-hued mount? What are you looking forward to in terms of World of Warcraft holidays now, considering you no longer have to chase after achievements? Are you excited for the new holidays and are you psyched to complete those Achievements, too, even though they’re not required for the Violet Proto-Drake? Share your thoughts this morning. As for those who haven’t gotten theirs, what else do you need to complete the meta?

With Brewfest now underway, I hope everyone’s had a crack or two at seasonal boss Coren Direbrew — I myself am going to try to get a group for him as soon I’m done writing here. If you have, there’s probably two major things you’ve noticed: He’s level 80 now, and he has some new loot.
Let’s take a look at his loot, both old and new.
Badge Trinkets
As last year, Coren’s main loot is a set of trinkets that are clones of existing badge trinkets with new, Brewfest related names. If you’re a new 80 who wants to save up their badges for tier gear, these are perfect for you. Even veterans who’ve been meaning to pick up some off spec gear should like them. As a warning, the procs from these and their badge counterparts will not stack with each other, although the equipped bonuses will, if you’re short on good trinkets. Here’s the rundown:
For physical DPS, there’s Coren’s Chromium Coaster, which is a clone of the Mirror of Truth.
Spell casters can grab the Mithril Pocketwatch, which is a clone of Sundial of the

All the World’s a Stage, and all the orcs and humans merely players. They have their stories and their characters; and one player in his time plays many roles.
With all the talk lately about starting new characters once the Cataclysm arrives, it struck me that most roleplayers already have more than one, including myself. Like most players, I started with one, a night elf druid, and focused on playing that exclusively for quite some time. It didn’t really occur to me that I would even want to play more than one.
Then, I began to notice that other people played more than one character, even within the same small group of friends. I had one friend in particular who had mastered the art of roleplaying multiple characters. She never said anything out of character to anyone in our group, and it took me ages to even realize that her characters were ally played by the same person in the first place. Each one had its own personality, and each had a different relationship with all our mutual friends.
Knowing her made something click inside my mind, and I began to see other possibilities

Every Wednesday, Chase Christian of Encrypted Text invites you to enter the world of shadows, as we explore the secrets and mechanics of the Rogue class. This week, we discuss some of the tips and tricks to remember when raiding the third and fourth bosses in the Trial of the Crusader.
Not even a full week had passed, and already not one, but two guilds were able to clear their way through the heroic version of Trial of the Grand Crusader. While it may have been due to soulstone exploits or spamming Holy Wrath, either way, one of the Lich King’s most powerful warriors and oldest companions died to the might of the Horde (or maybe some Alliance cowards got lucky).
I’ve had the luxury of fighting my way through and also defeating Anub’arak, though only on normal difficulty so far. This week, I’ll cover some of the tips and tricks that I’ve picked up in my clearings of the Trial of the Crusader, with a focus on the next 2 encounters in the instance.
Dismantle and Anesthetic Poison:
I forgot to mention this last week, but in the Northrend Beasts encounter, you can

Welcome to another Arcane Brilliance, the weekly Mage column that asks all the tough questions, and then Ice Blocks before the tough answers one-shot it.
A little while after Wrath hit, Arcane Brilliance posted a column on how to gear your Mage up for Naxx. Several things have changed since then:
Pretty much everything I wrote then is now wrong.
You don’t really gear for Naxx anymore. Naxx is now a place you go in order to gear up for other places.
Trial of the Champion.
Knowing these things, I thought an updated gearing column might be in order. So if you’re raising a fledgling Mage, and level 80 is about to hit you like a truckload of Death Knights, and you’re looking for the quickest way to turn green and blue into purple, look no farther. Well maybe a little farther. The column’s not over yet.
Never before in the history of WoW have level 80 players had so many options for gearing up at 80. Like PvP? You can epic yourself up pretty quickly almost exclusively killing other players. Have a fetish for heroic dungeons? Normal 5-mans? Daily quests? Profession

I love the to-do list that Siha posted on Banana Shoulders the other day — I don’t know if it’s just the kind of people we are or if it says something about our play styles, but I too usually have an ongoing list of things I plan to do in the game, and pretty much everything I end up doing in game (from running reputation grinds to leveling up alts) follows the list.
For instance, ever since Burning Crusade came out, the number one item on my to-do list was picking up a Netherwing Drake, and pretty much everything I did after that goal was set (switching over to my Hunter so I could solo the dailies more easily, doing only those quests in game every day, and leveling my professions up just to make the most out of doing them) was targeted at getting that Drake, which made it much sweeter when I finally did. In Northrend, my two main goals going in were to pick up the Kalu’ak fishing pole and to get the Green Proto-drake, and while the Oracles haven’t been very giving with the Cracked Eggs so far, I have at least ground out the reps needed for those. My latest
